People of Color Meditation Launching June 12th!

When space is created for People of Color to come together in community and friendship it can be healing and restorative. In collaboration with Oakland Shambhala, we are excited to offer such a space where in addition to fellowship, POC might find nourishment and inspiration in the Shambhala teachings and practice of meditation.

This evening will offer guided meditation followed by sitting practice, group discussion and a social gathering. First-time meditators and long-time practitioners are welcome.

  • When: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month
  • Time: 8-9:30 p.m.
  • Where: Oakland Shambhala at Temescal Arts Center, 511 48th St, Oakland

This gathering is open to anyone who self identifies as a person of color.
$5-10 Suggested Donation NOTAFLOF (No One Turned Away For Lack of Funds)

A Message from the Oakland Shambhala Council:

At Oakland Shambhala, our aspiration is to provide not just a physical space for meditation, but a space where we contemplate what it means to practice, including considerations related to social justice.  As a part of this effort, we have recently decided to designate 2nd and 4th Tuesdays as nights for People of Color to practice. 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, as well as any 5th Tuesdays in a month, will still be nights for open practice for all participants.  Open practice will also continue to be available to our membership at Berkeley Shambhala on Sunday morning at 10 am, and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 7 pm. We encourage you to spread the word.
