People of Color Sit: 2nd & 4th Tuesdays

Temescal Arts Center
511 48th St, Oakland

We are delighted to host a Shambhala weekly sit in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland!

Many of our members had expressed the desire for a regular sitting group in Oakland. We are curious what natural connections Shambhala practitioners can make in Oakland, and we hope that this center will provide significant opportunities to support people and projects with a similar social vision.

Northern California Shambhala, the San Francisco and Berkeley Shambhala Centers are co-partners backing this project. The Ziji Collective will host the weekly open house, with the intention of creating a culture of inclusion and warmth.

The Temescal Arts Center is a ten-minute walk from the MacArthur BART station, in a busy, commercial neighborhood. This vibrant, accessible space attracts numerous meditators of diverse backgrounds.

We offer weekly sits every Tuesday from 8 to 9:30 PM. The 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesdays are open sits. The 2nd and 4th Tuesdays are designated for people of color. These gatherings are open to anyone who identifies as a person of color. Visit the PoC meditation page for more information.
