    Room: Meditation Hall

In response to the housing crisis and guided by the belief that in order to thrive, low-income youth require safe and affordable homes, Youth Spirit Artworks (YSA), a non-profit organization committed to empowering homeless youth, is currently engaged in a campaign to build a 25-unit Tiny House Village for youth ages 18-25 on a 1/2 acre site in West Berkeley. The Berkeley Shambhala Center, along with the larger interfaith community, has been invited to support this project by working alongside youth as their assistants in the creation of this village.

On May 11th, YSA's Interfaith Liaison and Spiritual Care Coordinator, Lauren Jewett, will visit the Berkeley Shambhala Center to share more about the Adopt a Tiny House Program. All are invited to learn more about the many ways to suport this project. Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to attend this information session.

Please join us for what we believe will be a meaningful opportunity to practice service beyond the walls of our center and to contribute to the creation of Enlightened Society here in the East Bay.

    About Youth Spirit Artworks

Youth Spirit Artworks is an interfaith "green" art jobs and job training program located in Berkeley, California, which is committed to empowering homeless and low-income San Francisco Bay Area young people. YSA was founded in 2007 as a response to the enormous employment challenges of older homeless and low-income youth, by one of the initiators of the Alameda County Homeless Youth Collaborative, who had observed, first-hand at the Telegraph Avenue Homeless Youth Drop-In Center, the unmet needs of transition-age youth for jobs and jobs training programs.

The mission of Youth Spirit Artworks is to use art jobs and jobs training to empower and transform the lives of youth, giving young people the skills, experience and self-confidence needed to meet their full potential. Learn more about YSA here.
