In-Person only Weekend Meditation Retreat Presented by Berkeley Shambhala
PrerequisiteS: Shambhala Training Level II: The Birth of the Warrior

The world is experiencing a great deal of chaos right now. The idea of “warriorship” at such a time is to cultivate our mindfulness, our gentleness, and our fearlessness so that we can bring more sanity to our lives and to the world around us.

Please join us for Warrior in the World: Shambhala Training Weekend lll

In this weekend program, we build on the practices and teachings from Level ll to further awaken the mind and heart. We will continue to relate to our perceptions and our world directly through meditation practice and further develop our capacity to relate to others and our environment with humor, intelligence, kindness, and strength.

This can be the beginning of a life-long love affair with the phenomenal world, one that’s not based upon the reference points of hope and fear, gain or loss. Along this journey we continue to develop genuine confidence, humor and personal dignity.

Repeaters welcome — each time we experience these teachings, we step freshly into the river.

Shambhala Training Level III includes

  • Guided meditation practice
  • Mindfulness meditation — on and off the cushion
  • Group discussion
  • One-on-one meditation instruction
  • Concluding festive reception

Our Teachers

photo of Joanne Martin BraunJoanne Martin Braun PhD  has been a Shambhala teacher for over 35 years. She has joyfully engaged in teaching all the Shambhala levels up through Warriors Assembly, Seminary, and Shambhala Teacher Training. For some years she has also taught a Shambhala approach to Financial Well-Being. Professionally, Joanne does Mindfulness-based money coaching as well as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. She lives in Sonoma California with her husband Lou and their dog Caia.

photo of Susan GluckSusan Gluck When Susan heard the voice of Pema Chodron 20+ years ago, she knew immediately that this was her teacher. Later at a retreat, Pema said she comes from a tradition called Shambhala. Susan visited Berkeley Shambhala Center and knew right away, again, that she had found a home in which she could practice, work with her inspiration, confusion, doubt, and share her love for the dharma. She works as a graphic designer with her partner and dharma mate Lory, and loves to study jazz piano improvisation and composition.
