Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) is an eight-week program that offers secular, intensive mindfulness training to assist people with stress, anxiety, depression and pain.

MBSR is a practical approach which trains attention, allowing people to cultivate awareness and therefore enabling them to have more choice to take wise action in their lives.

Developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in the 1970s by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn, MBSR uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness, yoga, and exploration of patterns of behavior, thinking, feeling and action.

A certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the program. In order to receive the certificate, every class (including full-day retreat) must be attended. This program satisfies the first requirement towards obtaining the MBSR teaching certificate.

Program includes:

  • Orientation (required) Tuesday, April 30 • 10:00 am to 12:30 pm (Pacific Daily Time)
  • 8 Tuesdays, May 7 – June 25 • 10:00 am to 12:30 pm (Pacific Daily Time)
  • Full-Day Online Retreat, Saturday, June 15 • 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (Pacific Daily Time)
